Edward Overstreet, BS PhD

Dr. Overstreet obtained his B.S degree from the University of South Carolina in Biology and Chemistry. He completed his Ph.D. in collaboration with the University of Minnesota and Northwestern University working with Mario Ruggero, Ph.D. where he studied the development of basilar membrane mechanics, middle ear mechanics and the compound action potential. Following completion of his Ph.D. he joined Advanced Bionics Corporation contributing to the development of novel cochlear implant technologies. After nearly ten years at Advanced Bionics, Dr. Overstreet became a founding member of Viaphonix where he helped lead the development of a new cochlear implant system. In 2014, Dr. Overstreet joined forces with Oticon Medical working on implantable technologies. Dr. Overstreet has submitted over 50 patents in the field of functional neurostimulation and has published work in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He has served as faculty for several academic meetings and has served on the Board for the American Auditory Society. In his current position with Oticon Medical, he continues to follow his passion for improving the lives of people with hearing loss.
