Claude Jolly

Dr. Claude Jolly is Director of Electrode Research at MED-EL World Wide Headquarter in Innsbruck, Austria. He is a graduate from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, where he obtained a PhD degree in Bioengineering. Field of research: micro electrodes and potential field distribution in the inner ear using several current configurations to focus and steer current. Undergraduate degree: BS Electrical Engineering. He has been researching and developing electrodes, tools and devices for the inner ear at MED-EL for the last 17 years. In his present capacity Dr. Jolly manages a team of top level engineers and scientists to innovate and advance cochlear implantable technologies. He manages interactions with key surgical teams internationally for evaluation of new technologies. Research activities include imaging and histological studies, surgical robotics, strategies in atraumaticity, biomaterials and combination devices (electrical stimulation and drug delivery). Dr Jolly is the authors and co-author of numerous peered reviewed publications and holds several patents covering cochlear implant electrodes, drug delivery, and implantable devices. His responsibilities include managing research cooperation with Universities and industrial partners worldwide, and communicating advances in electrode innovations at international conferences.
